A MITSUBISHI sales manager from Derbyshire has raised more than £500 for a local hospice with ‘sit-a-thon’ at Chesterfield FC’s Proact Stadium.
Daniel Wheeldon organised a team of eight fellow fundraisers who sat on every one of the 10,600 seats in the ground in the fundraising stunt, which he decided to take on after turning 40 in June.
The father-of-two, who works at Gilder Mitsubishi in Tapton Lock, said: ‘When I first thought up the challenge I didn’t realise how tough it would be but I’m delighted to have done it and I’m really pleased so many people joined in and took part with me. It’s great that we have raised this money for such a fantastic cause.’
Gilder Mitsubishi has been an on-going supporter of Ashgate Hospicecare. The dealership has lent the charity vehicles and staff have raised thousands of pounds through various fundraisers.
Alison Ward-Foster, fundraising manager at Ashgate, said: ‘The money raised will make a big difference to patients and their families.’
Ashgate Hospicecare, an independent registered charity, provides care to more than 2,000 patients across North Derbyshire a year. As all of its services are free to those with life-limiting illness, the charity relies on the generosity of the local community.
