VOLVO has seen its most successful UK new model launch of all time with its XC40.
The premium compact SUV has doubled Volvo’s own sales forecast for the model, with more than 3,000 XC40s having been sold since its launch in late February.
Sales are currently sitting at 2,000 cars per month, with the range-topping First Edition car, which was limited to 1,000 examples, having nearly sold out before it even arrived in showrooms.
Since its launch, the XC40 has won European Car of the Year and What Car? Car of the Year, with its performance, build quality, styling, comfort and safety features all being subject of praise.
The XC40 is designed to combine advanced connectivity with practical interior storage and state-of-the-art safety technology. It’s available with a selection of petrol and diesel engines, with front-wheel or all-wheel drive on offer, as well as the choice of a manual or automatic gearbox.
David Baddeley, operations director at Volvo Car UK, commented: ‘The XC40 is already proving to be a huge success, fuelled by the number of high-profile awards it has won recently.
‘This enthusiasm is reflected in the number of early customers who have ordered their XC40, and we see this demand only increasing now the first customer cars are appearing on UK roads.’
