AN INDEPENDENT family-run car retailer has opened the UK’s newest Renault and Dacia franchise in the West Midlands.

For the past 15 years, Savilles Garage in Mustow Green, Kidderminster, has traded as a Skoda dealership. But managing director Patrick Sword, who runs the business with his father Jim – a motor trader for almost half a century – applied to become Renault and Dacia’s newest franchise partner after being impressed by the manufacturers’ product line-ups.

And he has not been disappointed. In its first weeks of trading the new-look dealership has completed dozens of new-car sales and secured impressive levels of conquest business from rival marques.

As a result, plans have already been submitted to double the size of the showroom, installing the state-of-the-art interactive Renault Store retail environment and creating up to five new jobs in the process.

Sword said: ‘We are a family business through and through and we pride ourselves on running our business with proper family values. This approach has helped us build real and lasting relationships in the local area and develop a very loyal customer base. We now have customers who will buy cars only from us, regardless of the manufacturer we represent, because they appreciate the service they receive and value the way they’re treated.

‘We’ve been overwhelmed by the positive reaction our customers have had to the Renault and Dacia ranges. We’ve already had a lot of long-standing Skoda customers trading-in their cars for a Renault or Dacia.

‘We see a very bright future for both Renault and Dacia and our plans to double the size of the dealership will give us one of the most impressive and modern dealerships in the region.’

Darren Payne, sales director at Renault Group UK, said: ‘We are thrilled to have a well-established and successful dealership like Savilles join the Renault Group dealer network and help us strengthen our presence in the West Midlands.’
