James Baggott: What I’m most excited about at this year’s CDX

Time 12:11 pm, June 6, 2019

IN these times of falling car sales, difficult economic conditions and political uncertainty, taking a day out of the office to think differently about your business might seem like a tough thing to do.

However, it’s at exactly times like these that you need to take a step back, take a breather and as a leader of your car sales business, listen to how times are changing and how you can capitalise on them.

Next Wednesday, June 12, at Farnborough International Conference and Exhibition Centre, Car Dealer Magazine’s automotive expo, CDX, will be serving up all manner of business tips, hints and insight to help you improve your business.

I’m incredibly excited about the line-up this year. We’ve focused heavily on in-depth research pieces produced by our four headline partners.

These specially commissioned pieces from Barclays, Cox Automotive, CitNOW and CarGurus will give you never-before-seen research into how car buying is changing, how the market is evolving and how the search for cars is developing.

On the Car Dealer Live Stage, these four partners will give 10-minute keynote sessions on their White Papers throughout the day, share their incredible findings with you and give you the chance to quiz them on the research.

Also joining Car Dealer editor Rebecca Chaplin and me on stage will be car manufacturer and dealer group bosses who will discuss how the industry is changing and their thoughts on making car sales a success in these challenging times. There’s nothing like listening to your peers when it comes to getting inspiration for your own business.

Elsewhere, we have 13 brilliant workshops where experts will give you real, usable, take-home advice on everything from battling cybercrime, dissecting the scaremongering and false statements about Brexit and how to get the best out of your employees.

We have social media giants Facebook on hand to give you tips on making the most of your marketing activity on the platform and using the site’s messaging service to the max, while GForces will showcase their amazing online car retailing solution in another workshop – if you haven’t seen it, you need to check it out.

Later in the day, on the Live Stage, Rebecca and I will be hosting a special Dealers’ Den session, where new companies will pitch their new business ideas to our ‘dragons’ in an exciting session. I can’t wait for this one!

You’ll be able to see what the Dealership of the Future looks like with a host of amazing technology and new kit on show that you’ll want to implement into your showroom soon.

And if you’re after a space on our annual Bangers4Ben rally, this is the first place you can sign up for our annual charity adventure. Places go very quickly, so make sure you don’t miss out.

If none of the above tickles your fancy – and I’d be very surprised if that was the case – our expo hall will be packed with exhibitors showing off their latest products.

CDX is not only a great place to get inspiration for your business but you can catch up with friends and business contacts all in one place.

Tickets are free and available from here – there’s plenty of parking right outside the show hall and our Farnborough location is easy to get to from the motorway.

I look forward to seeing you on the day – and I hope you come away as inspired as we will be!
